Trauma Therapy for Women and Moms in Washington and Idaho

You may understand what happened to you. You may even understand why you react the way you do.

And still, your body braces. You shut down. You overthink, people-please, or feel responsible for keeping everything and everyone okay.

I provide online trauma therapy for women and moms in Washington and Idaho who want to understand the patterns they carry and begin responding to life with more awareness, steadiness, and choice.

Trauma Is Not Only What Happened. It Is Also What Stayed With You.

Trauma can come from one overwhelming experience. It can also develop through repeated experiences of criticism, instability, emotional neglect, loss, conflict, caregiving, or having to grow up too soon.

Sometimes trauma comes from what happened.

Sometimes it comes from what you needed and did not receive.

Sometimes it comes from family patterns that began long before you and were reinforced through your own life.

When something feels too overwhelming to process, your nervous system adapts to protect you. Those protective responses can continue long after the experience has ended.

Trauma may show up as:

  • feeling anxious, tense, or constantly on alert

  • shutting down, going numb, or feeling disconnected

  • overthinking, perfectionism, or people-pleasing

  • difficulty trusting yourself or other people

  • feeling responsible for everyone and everything

  • reacting strongly to conflict, criticism, or uncertainty

  • repeating relationship or family patterns you want to change

  • parenting triggers that bring up old feelings or reactions

You don’t have to decide whether what happened was “bad enough.”

If the past is still affecting your body, relationships, choices, or ability to feel present, it deserves care and attention.

Trauma Therapy Helps You Work With the Effects of What Happened

Trauma therapy gives you a supportive place to understand what you experienced, how you adapted, and how those patterns are affecting you now.

It’s not about forcing you to tell every detail, relive painful experiences, blame your family, or forgive before you are ready.

It’s about helping your mind and body recognize that the present is different from the past.

Talking is part of this work. It can help you understand your experiences and make sense of your reactions.

But trauma is not always held in words. It can also live in your muscles, breath, nervous system, emotions, and automatic fight, flight, freeze, or please responses.

That is why I include the body in trauma therapy.

More Awareness. More Capacity. More Choice.

Trauma therapy cannot change the past. It doesn’t promise that you’ll never feel anxious, overwhelmed, or triggered again.

It can help you understand your responses with less shame and build more capacity for what life brings.

Over time, trauma therapy may support you in:

  • recognizing triggers and nervous system responses sooner

  • feeling more grounded and present in your body

  • staying connected to yourself during difficult emotions

  • setting boundaries with more clarity and less guilt

  • responding to your children, partner, or family with more choice

  • trusting yourself and your needs

  • gently changing patterns that no longer fit the life you want

This isn’t about becoming someone new.

It’s about becoming more fully yourself, with more room to choose what you carry forward and what stops with you.

Online Somatic Therapy for Anxiety

I offer online somatic therapy for anxiety in Washington and Idaho.

Somatic therapy helps us pay attention to the body, not just the story in your mind. That matters because anxiety often shows up as more than thoughts. It can feel like bracing, tension, urgency, hypervigilance, shutdown, or difficulty settling even when you want to.

In our work together, we may pay attention to what your system is communicating through:

  • racing thoughts

  • chest tightness

  • shallow breathing

  • irritability

  • panic

  • muscle tension

  • restlessness

  • emotional flooding

  • difficulty relaxing

My approach is trauma-informed, practical, and grounded. We work in a way that helps you build more safety, awareness, and flexibility without shaming your coping patterns.

My approach may include:

Somatic therapy and nervous system regulation

To support your body in shifting out of chronic fight, flight, or freeze patterns.

Mindfulness-based support

To help you notice your anxious patterns earlier and create more space before they take over.

EFT or tapping

To lower emotional intensity and support your nervous system in moving out of panic, urgency, and fear.

Parts work (IFS-informed)

To understand the worried part, the over-responsible part, the perfectionistic part, and the part of you that feels scared underneath it all.

Trauma-informed talk therapy

To help you understand your anxiety in context, rather than treating it as a personal flaw.

Trauma Therapy May Be a Good Fit If This Feels Familiar

Maybe you’ve done a lot of work to understand your past.

You know where some of your patterns began. You can explain why you people-please, overthink, shut down, or feel responsible for everyone around you.

But knowing why doesn’t always change what happens in the moment.

Your shoulders still brace. Conflict can feel bigger than it is. You might react, pull away, or go quiet before you have time to think. Then you’re left wondering, “Why do I keep doing this?”

Trauma therapy may be helpful if childhood experiences, difficult relationships, loss, or family patterns are still affecting how you feel about yourself, how you connect with others, or how safe it feels to slow down and let your guard down.

You don’t need to have one dramatic event or a PTSD diagnosis. You also don’t have to decide whether what happened was “bad enough.”

If something from your past is still showing up in your body, relationships, parenting, or everyday reactions, it may be worth paying attention to.

A Few Things You May Be Wondering

Will I Have to Talk About Every Detail of What Happened?

No. You won’t be pushed to share anything before you’re ready.

We can work with what is happening in your life and body now without going through every detail of the past. You get to have a voice in the pace and direction of our work.

What If I’m Not Sure Whether What I Experienced Was Trauma?

That’s okay.

Trauma isn’t only about what happened. It’s also about how the experience affected you and what your mind and body had to do to get through it.

We can talk about what you’ve experienced without rushing to label it.

How Is Somatic Trauma Therapy Different From Regular Talk Therapy?

We’ll still talk. We’ll also pay attention to what your body is communicating.

That might mean noticing tension, bracing, shutting down, feeling disconnected, or the urge to keep everyone happy.

Including how the body can help us understand and work with patterns that don’t always change through insight alone.

Wondering If We Might Be a Good Fit?
