-
I use a variety of methods and strategies with clients depending on the person – Mindfulness meditation, visualization, breath work, Emotional Freedom Technique, and various approaches to talk therapy. Everyone has unique needs and goals for therapy, so my approach can look different for each client. We are in a partnership on your journey, and we are equally committed and responsible for showing up each session with the goal of being open, honest and compassionate along the way.

As the therapist, I will make recommendations, but the amount of sessions or length of time someone is in therapy is ultimately up to that person. It really depends on the person coming in for therapy – the areas of their life where they want to create change, their commitment to the work in-between sessions, and how often they come in for sessions.
I will always ask a new client to commit to sessions for the first four consecutive weeks, so we can start to build rapport and trust which is essential for any effective therapeutic relationship.
-
You get to tell me whatever you feel is important to share. With that said, I will ask you questions and encourage you to share thoughts, feelings and experiences that maybe no one else has ever asked you before which may create some discomfort. This is where some people tend to shut down, become irritated or maybe even stop coming in for sessions.
What I would like you to know is that discomfort can be a good thing! It means you are exploring areas that you have been ignoring or suppressing, and this is where the transformation happens. Change does not happen in our comfort zone, so we must challenge ourselves sometimes, which I believe is what you are looking for when coming to therapy.

Yes! I offer video telehealth sessions to all clients as I am fully remote and see all my clients online throughout Washington state. I only offer phone sessions when we are having technical difficulties and video is unavailable.
-
I always offer a free 20-minute phone consultation prior to a paid session. We will talk about what you want from therapy, what kind of therapist you are looking for, and you will learn a bit about my approach and what I offer. At that time, we can decide if we are a good fit to work together.

Although therapy and coaching approaches have some overlap, they are distinctly different. Generally, coaching helps clients in their present state to take specific, measurable steps toward their goals.
Therapy helps clients address symptoms and resolve issues that are causing emotional pain and turmoil and impairing their ability to function in day-to-day life. Therapists look to clients’ past to help them find answers and gain understanding so that clients can feel more integrated and ready to move forward.

Yes, 100%. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, confidentiality is a core value. The privacy of your information is of utmost importance to me, and what you share in our sessions will be kept confidential.
With that said, there are a few exceptions to consider, such as consulting cases with a clinical supervisor, if it is determined that you are at risk of or are in action of harming yourself or others, or if your records are subpoenaed by the court system. You can also request your records be sent to other medical providers if needed.
