Healing Our Mother and Ancestral Patterns Workshop

A Trauma-Informed Group for Women Healing Transgenerational & Intergenerational Trauma

Some of the patterns we struggle with as adults didn’t start with us.

Anxiety that feels bigger than the moment.
Guilt around rest or wanting more.
Over-responsibility, people-pleasing, or staying small even when you’re capable of more.

Often, these aren’t personal flaws or failures. They are nervous system adaptations shaped by transgenerational and intergenerational trauma — patterns passed down through families, culture, and survival over many generations.

Healing Our Mothers and Ancestors is a trauma-informed group therapy experience for women who want to work with these patterns in a grounded, supportive, and body-based way.

This group is not about blaming mothers or families.
It’s not about rehashing old stories or forcing forgiveness.
And it’s not about doing more “self-work” from your head.

Instead, we work at the level where these patterns actually live — the nervous system and the body — using gentle EFT/tapping, somatic awareness, and guided reflection, all held within a carefully paced group container.

Understanding Transgenerational vs. Intergenerational Trauma

Intergenerational trauma often refers to patterns passed directly within a family — for example, how a parent’s stress, trauma, or emotional availability impacts a child’s attachment and nervous system.

Transgenerational trauma widens the lens. It includes patterns shaped by culture, gender roles, religion, oppression, loss, and survival that move through multiple generations, not just one.

These patterns are often unconscious.
They don’t live in stories alone — they live in bodies.

And the good news is:
they can soften and shift.

What We’ll Be Working With

In this group, we’ll explore how transgenerational and intergenerational trauma can show up as:

  • chronic anxiety or emotional overwhelm

  • people-pleasing or difficulty setting boundaries

  • guilt around rest, ease, or success

  • fear of taking up space or being fully seen

  • feeling responsible for others’ emotions or wellbeing

Through trauma-informed, nervous-system-focused practices, we’ll create space for these patterns to release — without forcing insight, reliving trauma, or pushing beyond what feels safe.

What This Group Is (and Isn’t)

This group is:

  • Trauma-informed and nervous-system-based

  • Somatic and body-centered (not just talk-based)

  • Gently paced and emotionally safe

  • Supportive without pressure to share

This group is not:

  • About blaming your parents or family

  • About retelling traumatic stories

  • About fixing yourself or doing it “right”

You’re welcome to participate quietly, at your own pace.
Your system will take what it’s ready for.

Why Group Work Matters

Healing transgenerational trauma doesn’t have to happen in isolation.

Group work offers:

  • normalization (“it’s not just me”)

  • co-regulation and shared steadiness

  • the experience of being witnessed without pressure

This group is carefully facilitated to ensure containment, safety, and choice at every step.

Who This Group Is For

This group is open to any woman who feels drawn to it.

You do not need:

  • a clear family narrative

  • a specific diagnosis

  • prior experience with therapy, tapping, or somatic work

You only need curiosity and a willingness to slow down.

What to Expect

  • Gentle EFT/tapping and somatic guidance

  • Clear framing and trauma-informed education woven in

  • Grounding and integration throughout

  • A steady, compassionate group container

Many women notice subtle but meaningful shifts after this work - in how they feel, respond, and relate - often continuing to unfold over time.

You Are Not Here to Heal Everything

You are here to interrupt a pattern.

And that matters.

If this group feels like a quiet yes, you’re welcome to join us.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to share or talk in the group?

No. Sharing is always optional. You’re welcome to participate quietly and internally. This work is effective even when done silently.

Is this group therapy?

This is a trauma-informed therapeutic group experience, but it is not a replacement for individual therapy. It can complement ongoing therapy or stand alone as a supportive healing experience.

What if I get overwhelmed or emotional?

You’ll be guided continuously to stay connected to your body and present-moment safety. Grounding and regulation are woven throughout. You’re always encouraged to pause, open your eyes, or step back if needed.

Is this only for people with “big trauma”?

No. Transgenerational trauma often shows up through subtle patterns — anxiety, guilt, over-responsibility, emotional fatigue — not just major life events. You don’t need a trauma label to benefit from this work.

Will this involve reliving past trauma?

No. This group does not focus on retelling traumatic stories. We work gently and somatically, allowing the nervous system to release patterns without re-immersion or overwhelm.

Do I need experience with EFT/tapping or somatic work?

Not at all. Everything will be explained and guided in a simple, accessible way.

Can this help my children or family?

When you work with your own nervous system, patterns often shift relationally as well. While this group is focused on you, many women notice positive ripple effects in their relationships.

How will I know if this group is right for me?

If you feel curious, grounded, and gently drawn in — rather than pressured or panicked — that’s often a good sign. You’re also welcome to reach out with questions before registering.
